December 14, 2010 @ 01:00PM
TORONTO – Marty Parker, the president and CEO of Waterstone Human Capital, a leading executive search and professional recruitment firm, is pleased to announce that Alan Small has joined the firm as managing director.
Small has also been appointed vice-chair of the Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures Board of Governors. Canada’s 10 is an annual program, founded and presented by Waterstone.
“Alan brings a wealth of experience – 20 plus years – in financial services executive recruitment to our firm, and will be leading this aspect of our search business,” says Parker. “His background is impressive, to say the least, and we are thrilled to have someone of his calibre on board.”
Small has been conducting executive search for the past 20 years at the CEO and senior management level in a variety of functional areas, including finance, marketing, lending services, human resources and information technology, focusing on the financial, not-for-profit and association sectors.
Prior to joining Waterstone, Small was the managing director, for Canada, of DHR International, the fifth largest retained executive search firm in the United States, and a partner in the financial services practice of Odgers Berndtson.
Small holds an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, is a member of the Ivey Alumni Board and is Chair of the school’s Corporate Governance Committee. He is also a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) as well as a Certified Management Consultant (CMC).
“Finding a firm that’s the right fit for me is critical and I’m very pleased to be a part of the team at Waterstone,” says Small. “I look forward to applying my expertise to our search work, and to helping our clients find candidates that are the right cultural fit for their organizations.”
“Not only does Alan bring a thoughtful perspective on leadership and in best practices for financial services recruitment, he also has a fresh view on everything we have built and are doing as a firm,” adds Parker. “He will not only be a great partner to us, but to many of our clients – new and old.”
