Do You and Your Kids Need Help with Homework?

The New TVOParents.com is Your Secret Weapon

September 26, 2011 @ 10:50AM

Toronto - As kids begin the challenge of a new school year, so begins the homework challenge. To ease the fear and frustration, TVO has created the parent’s secret weapon: the new TVOParents.com. Launching today, it is a curated space that helps parents feed their child’s mind, body and soul.

Fully integrated with tvokids.com, TVOParents.com shows you how every TVOKids program or game addresses the Ontario school curriculum and gives you access to essential tools like the TVOKids Homework Zone. This one-of-a-kind resource aggregates TVO’s extensive inventory of curriculum-linked videos, games and activities into an easy-to-navigate environment where your kids can practice math, science and literacy concepts they’ve learned in school.

All of TVOParents.com’s content is organized around three key areas that are fundamental to kids’ success in school and life: School and Learning; Health and Development; Social and Emotional. Themed pages are designed to easily pull and display content from across the site that is related to any one issue or topic.

The all-new TVOParents.com offers an extensive video library, audio podcasts, blogs, feature articles and more, addressing the many issues that affect your child’s learning: When should your child read?; How can you help your child cope with change?; What are the big developmental and physical milestones to watch for?

TVOParents.com’s Cheryl Jackson, on-camera host, journalist, blogger and mother of three, has contributed more than 250 videos. Jackson and the team have also posted more than 400 articles and 400 blogs, ranging from research on education and parenting trends to coverage of education-focused events and initiatives across the province.

TVOParents.com has also developed a series of multilingual resources designed to help parents become their children’s first, best teacher. Easy-to access videos such as How to Read to your Child; How to Count with Your Child; How to Explore Science with your Child; and Learn Math through Games are available in English, French, Cayuga, Farsi, Mandarin, Mohawk, Spanish, Tamil and Urdu.

Looking to stay up-to-date with the latest information from TVOParents.com? Visitors can now easily connect with TVOParents.com through Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, directly on the homepage.
