Former Premiers of Ontario Bill Davis, David Peterson and Bob Rae are encouraging citizens to use TVO’s Your Vote 2011 suite of media resources as a great way to become better informed about the issues shaping the provincial election.

"Your Vote 2011 serves a real need for in-depth analysis of the Ontario political landscape,” says Bill Davis, who was also the founder of TVO. “I encourage anyone who is looking to get informed about the platforms, the parties and the complex issues of this election to spend some time with TVO."

Since the launch of its sixth season on September 6, The Agenda with Steve Paikin has provided in-depth analysis of election issues every weeknight and will continue through Election Day. Guests from across the political spectrum have debated topics such as health care, poverty reduction, energy policy and the economy. Anchor Steve Paikin has conducted feature interviews with party leaders Dalton McGuinty, Andrea Horwath and Mike Schreiner, with Tim Hudak scheduled to appear later this month. All of The Agenda with Steve Paikin’s election coverage is also available on mobile with the new The Agenda with Steve Paikin app.

"I find it impressive that TVO is taking a unique and in-depth approach in covering this election,” says David Peterson. “It is fitting that our public educational broadcaster is providing such a solid opportunity for Ontarians to engage in the political process."

TVO’s yourvote2011.ca website includes a vast collection of online resources to help build a more engaged democracy, including online episodes of The Agenda with Steve Paikin, web-exclusive video, platform summaries and leader profiles, blogs, campaign analysis, an election toolkit, Web chats around hot election topics and much more.

“Ontario political affairs is something TVO does extremely well and Your Vote 2011 is a prime example,” says Bob Rae. “I hope many Ontarians will make use of this valuable public service in the coming weeks."

The Agenda on the Road: Your Vote 2011 tour has travelled to Ottawa, Hamilton, Niagara and Sudbury to hear directly from Ontarians about the issues that matter to them. On October 2 and 3 the tour makes its final stop in Mississauga with the participant-led AgendaCamp workshop on the Sunday and a live, on-location broadcast at Mississauga City Hall on the Monday at 8 pm. To register for AgendaCamp or to attend the live broadcast, visit yourvote2011.ca.
