MARCOM 2010 Annual Forum - Canada's only strategic marketing and communications conference for the public and not-for-profit sectors

Ottawa, ON – Back for a 12th consecutive year, the MARCOM 2010 Annual Forum brings together government, association and non-profit marketing and communications professionals and industry experts for Canada‘s only professional development forum developed specifically for these niche sectors. “Marketing matters more than ever and adopting a client-centred mindset is the starting point.” said Jim Mintz, Managing Partner, CEPSM. Mintz’ business partner, Bernie Colterman went on to say, “Marketing is not complicated – it requires a plan and a disciplined, strategic approach to survive and hope to thrive in challenging times.” The MARCOM organizing team understands the economic realities and intensely cluttered media environment their attendees face and works with an Advisory Committee along with its speakers to give actionable, practical ways to move initiatives forward while respecting member and tax-payer dollars.
Under the banner, “Taking the Next Step - Marketing with Authenticity”, this year’s forum will feature 40 public, non-profit, and private sector experts who will share their strategies, best practices and tools to help attendees take the next step from audience engagement to deeper, more authentic relationships. Marketing relies on long-term trust. The MARCOM 2010 Annual Forum will help attendees understand “how” to get there.
Keynote Speakers this year include:
- Social media and personal branding expert, Mitch Joel, President of Twist Image who will be delivering the opening keynote to unravel the fascinating world of new media.
- Terry O’Reilly, Host of Age of Persuasion on CBC Radio, who will Keynote on June 11 to reveal how the art of persuasion informs our culture.
- A secret Closing Plenary will bring the theme full circle to what’s at the core of marketing with authenticity.
MARCOM 2010 will also deliver 17 roundtable sessions, an exhibit showcase of marketing and communications solutions, informal networking opportunities and a choice of 3 intensive workshops.
When is it? June 10 and 11 at the Hilton Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Quebec. Workshops on June 9th.

This was my first year at MARCOM and I wasn’t sure what to expect. After the first day in the advance seminar, I had started work on my company’s mission statement. By the second day, I was sending questions back to staff on my Blackberry, engaging them in the process I was experiencing. I returned to the office with a number of excellent ideas, received the buy-in from the staff, and am now working on the Board of Directors. The conference was a springboard that will move our company forward with clearer direction, better focus, and sharper marketing.
