Solar Income Fund partners with Asta Corporation to bring Global Financing Solution to Ontario Solar Energy Industry

Ontario, Canada has become a significant center of business for the global renewable energy economy through the enactment of the Green Energy Act (2009). With hundreds of megawatts of solar energy Feed in Tariff contracts awarded the industry should be booming but, in recent months, has stalled. “While the solar energy industry in Ontario has great potential it is not growing as fast as many had hoped.” said Paul Ghezzi, CEO, Solar Income Fund Inc. “One of the primary reasons is the clear lack of financing available from traditional Canadian financial centers and that is why we are launching our new program.”
The type of specialized financing required for solar energy projects is readily available in Europe as many European countries are considered mature centers of business for solar energy. “Partnering with Solar Income Fund allows us to bring a much needed service to the Ontario marketplace,” said Greg Willmott, Director, Asta Corporation. “We have European financial institutions ready to start funding high quality solar projects, in Ontario, immediately.”
Developers and integrators of high quality solar energy projects in the range of 1 to 10 megawatts in size, with an established Feed in Tariff contract in place, will now have a global financing solution to get their project financed, built and tied into the Ontario power grid.
