T&T® Waterfront Night Market Celebrates Modern Asian Tradition

TORONTO (ONTARIO) - The T&T® Waterfront Night Market promises to bring a modern-day tradition from across the Pacific Ocean to Toronto’s doorstep on evenings from August 6 to 8 at 222 Cherry Street. Unlike any event to ever take place along Toronto’s Waterfront, the night market will indulge the city’s senses with Asian food, culture and entertainment under a moonlit summer sky.
Hosted by the NAAAP Toronto and T&T Supermarket®, in association with President’s Choice® and President’s Choice Financial® brands, this first ever T&T Waterfront Night Market will recreate the exciting air of popular night markets across Asia. This year’s event will feature over 60 vendor booths, at which guests can enjoy a delicious range of Asian delicacies, purchase specialty drinks like Bubble Tea as well as browse through an assortment of consumer goods. Cooking demonstrations will be in full display revealing the intricacies of preparing traditional cuisine, while the main-stage will be host to two full evenings (Friday & Saturday) of world cultural performances.
Night Markets originated in large Pan-Asian cities like Taipei, providing a hub for residents and tourists alike to find authentic goods and food selections from hundreds of local merchants. It wasn’t long before Night Markets migrated to North America, where they have become permanent fixtures in cities with large Asian populations like Vancouver, Seattle and San Francisco. By placing itself close to Cherry Beach, the T&T Waterfront Night Market is also well-positioned to be part of Toronto’s waterfront revitalization efforts and preparations in hosting the 2015 Pan-American Games.
NAAAP Toronto hopes that that the T&T Waterfront Night Market will be the inaugural event of an annual mainstay in Toronto – alongside other celebrated cultural events like Carribana, Taste of the Danforth and the Harbourfront summer festivals. Showcasing Canada’s multicultural mosaic, the T&T Waterfront Night Market will be one of this summer’s hottest cultural and community festivals.
